SUMMARY:2026 Rinker Paladin Pitch Competition
DESCRIPTION:The Rinker Paladin Pitch Competition\, hosted by The Hill Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Furman University\, brings together four student finalists as they pitch their BIG new venture ideas for the chance to take home the $10\,000 Johnny Flynn Award. From 4:00 to 5:30 PM\, a panel of judges will evaluate each pitch\, and audience members will have the opportunity to cast a vote for their favorite venture\, with the crowd favorite receiving a prize. \nLeading up to the competition\, join us for the Dins Student Marketplace from 3:00 to 4:00 PM\, a one hour tabling experience where student entrepreneurs showcase\, sell\, and promote their businesses. Food and drinks will be served as we create space to connect with founders\, discover new ideas\, and support Furman’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem before the pitch competition begins. \nFollowing the conclusion of the pitch competition\, all registered attendees will be entered into a raffle with prizes awarded. \nThis year’s events will take place at Timmons Arena. Free parking is available in the lot directly in front of the arena. \nPlease note: The Rinker Paladin Pitch Competition will include flashing lights and pyrotechnic effects. If you have accessibility needs or concerns\, we encourage you to reach out in advance.

SUMMARY:Fix My Pitch Kickoff Event
DESCRIPTION:Great companies don’t always have great pitches. And that’s not a failure. It’s a skills gap. \nPitching is a craft. It can be learned\, refined\, and rebuilt. Founders shouldn’t have to figure it out alone\, and creatives want real problems to solve\, not hypothetical briefs. \nFix My Pitch brings those two worlds together. \nThis kickoff event is a fun\, low-pressure way to gather the startup and creative communities in one room. You’ll meet other founders\, designers\, storytellers\, and strategists\, and learn how the Fix My Pitch program works. \nWhether your pitch needs a second draft or you’re someone who loves helping ideas come to life through storytelling and design\, this night is about connection\, collaboration\, and making strong ideas easier to understand.

SUMMARY:Learn to Code with AI and Sports
DESCRIPTION:If you love sports and want to learn how coding works in the real world\, this class is the perfect place to start. You’ll learn Python by analyzing the statistics of your favorite sport\, whether that’s football\, basketball\, baseball\, volleyball\, tennis\, or anything else you follow. Each week you’ll write simple programs that turn real data into charts\, comparisons\, and insights\, giving you a fun and practical introduction to programming and data analytics. \nThe class is designed for high school students but is open to anyone ages 13 and up\, including adults who want a more engaging way to learn to code. No previous experience is needed\, and students only need a laptop (Mac or PC). \nHomeschool students who take this class along with Learn to Code with AI and Entertainment\, in addition to either Build Your First App or Build Your First Game\, can count the combination as a full credit of high school computer science. A syllabus is available for that purpose; contact us to request a copy before the class begins.
