Celebrating Greenville's Robust Growth: GADC Reports Another Strong Year of Economic Development

Greenville, South Carolina continues to grow. The Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC) has just released its 2022 Project Summary Report. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Greenville’s economy continues to thrive, attracting new businesses and investments to the city.

In 2022 alone, the GADC team helped secure 2,326 new jobs and $470 million in new capital investment. These figures represent a 58% increase in investment and an 18% increase in job creation over the past 20 years. Since its inception, GADC has helped create over 36,400 new jobs, $6.6 billion in capital investment, and a cumulative economic impact of over $55 billion in Greenville County.

The report also shows that 90% of the 146 economic development contacts received in 2022 came from companies not currently located in Greenville County. Of these, 42% were from the county’s target industries, particularly automotive and life sciences, while 34% were from international organizations.
Moreover, GADC received over 120 property inquiries in 2022, with the majority (95%) seeking industrial properties. Many of these inquiries were for large-scale investments, with 15 companies exploring potential long-term investments of $500 million or more. Notably, 7 of these inquiries were related to green energy and the electrification of vehicles.

Greenville’s vibrant and growing economy attracts top-tier companies and investments and shows no signs of slowing down.
