Greenville to host SCbio's 2024 Conference

The largest life sciences conference in South Carolina history is coming to #StartupGVL.

Registration has officially opened for the 2024 SCbio Annual Conference, set for February 6-8 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Greenville.

The Science of Success will feature 20 sessions on topics that include bringing an end to Alzheimer’s, health equity, affordable healthcare and artificial intelligence. Speakers will include national pharma and MedTech executives – including several from #StartupGVL – as well as economic developers, leaders from South Carolina’s research universities, healthcare executives, business and financial industry officials and national media.

Matthew Cannon, conference chair and Dean of Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine Carolinas Campus, said  life sciences remain South Carolina’s fastest growing industry. The growth of this annual conference is another testament to the industry’s impact on the Palmetto State.

“We’re excited to showcase the top companies, our research universities, innovation ecosystem and growth initiatives from across our state and country at SCbio 2024,” Cannon said.

#StartupGVL is a hub for the state’s life sciences industry, which generates $25.7 billion annually.

Rymedi – a Greenville-based healthcare software company and a major sponsor of the 2024 SCbio Conference – announced $9 million in Series A financing last month. Two other Greenville-based startups, Kiyatec and ChartSpan, are among leading biotech and Med-Tech industry brands participating in the conference.

Other major sponsors include VisitGreenvilleSC and Nephron Pharmaceuticals.

South Carolina’s research universities – including MUSCClemson, and the University of South Carolina – are represented, as are major healthcare systems and economic development entities, including the SC Department of CommerceSCRASC Hospital Association, and others.

The conference will also feature a presentation of the Pinnacle Awards by South Carolina Life Sciences to the outstanding 2024 Organization of the Year, the 2024 Individual of the Year, and the 2024 industry Rising Star under 40 years of age.

This year, a new honoree will also be presented with the South Carolina Life Sciences Hall of Fame Award.
