Zylö Founder Scott Pancoast Named  Founder of the Year

The South Carolina Research Authority presented the honor at their annual summit.

The South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) named the founder and CEO of the Greenville based Zylö Therapeutics  as its Founder of the Year.

Scott Pancoast, who founded the life science company in 2017, received the honor during the SCRA’s annual summit in Columbia this week.

“I am extremely honored to win this award.,” Pancoast told StartupGVL. “The award reflects on the strength of the Zylö team of employees, board members, and consultants, and it spotlights the cradle of support that the state of provides, from SCRA to SCbio to VentureSouth to the South Carolina Department of Commerce (and 3PhaseSC) to NEXTGen to the Upstate Alliance to GADC…and beyond”

Zylö’s innovative Z-pod® technology is a drug delivery system that can be applied in a variety of fields, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, animal health and agricultural chemicals.

The award is the latest in what has been a banner year of achievements for Pancoast and Zylö. In January, the company announced a partnership with hair restoration leader BosleyMD, and last month told StartupGVL they are forming a spin-off company, Atticus Pharma, to research and develop products for the pharmaceutical industry.

Zylö’s Z-pod® technology also was recently shortlisted for the “Rising Star Award” from In-Cosmetics Global 2024, an international cosmetics conference to be held in Paris, France, in late April.

Themed “Founders First,” the 2024 SCRA Summit celebrated the hard work of the founders who are growing South Carolina’s innovation economy. It was a time for  entrepreneurs, startups, project leaders and members of the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem to come together to learn more about how to grow their businesses successfully. The success of these startups results in economic growth and new jobs that pay 70 percent higher than the state’s average.

NextGEN’s New Fix My Pitch Program

Every startup has a pitch. But not every pitch is actually working.
Too often, founders are walking around with a deck or a one liner that explains what they do, but does not land, connect, or clearly communicate the value of what they are building. That is the gap NextGEN’s brand new Fix My Pitch program is designed to address.
