Aquila’s path to entrepreneurship has always been rooted in food. After years of working across the culinary industry, from food trucks to catering and fine dining, she built a business that allowed her to stay in the industry while raising her daughter, redefining what a mom-friendly and purpose driven career could look like. After relocating to Greenville three years ago, Aquila noticed a gap in the local food scene for something quick, flavorful, and different culturally layered, which led her to launch The Tasti Plate. Drawing from Caribbean and Southern influences inspired by her family’s Haitian, Jamaican and Alabama roots, her food is not about strict authenticity but about sharing her story, culture, and heart on the plate storytelling and sharing her culture and heart on the plate. Greenville’s food scene warmly embraced Chef Aquila’s bold culinary style, leading her to become the 2025 Iron Caterer Champion- the first woman in the competition’s history to claim the title! Through programs like Village Launch’s BEA and Hone, and NextGEN’s Roundtables and SUDs, Aquila has built a loyal following and a strong local network. Today, in addition to growing The Tasti Plate, Aquila is also an influential speaker and coach, where she creates transformational culinary experiences that blend food, mentorship, and personal development helping others craft their own recipe to a limitless life.
